Biosolvit Acquires Augen in R$48 Million Deal to Expand Water Treatment Solutions

Biosolvit strengthens sustainable portfolio with Augen's water treatment and quality control tech

Biosolvit, a Brazilian company known for its focus on socio-environmental impact solutions, has made a significant acquisition by purchasing Augen, a startup specializing in the digitalization of water treatment and quality control systems. The acquisition deal could reach a total of R$48 million, contingent on Augen meeting performance goals over the next three years. This strategic move marks Biosolvit's third acquisition, further expanding its portfolio of environmentally sustainable technologies.

The Rise of Augen and Its Digital Water Solutions

Founded in 2018, Augen quickly established itself as a pioneer in digitizing water treatment infrastructures, offering solutions that reduce chemical use and improve water quality monitoring. The startup gained the attention of investors in 2023 when it received a R$4 million investment from KPTL and Cedro Capital’s GovTech Fund. This injection of capital helped Augen scale its operations and commercial reach. The acquisition by Biosolvit also marks the first exit for the GovTech Fund, just one year and three months after its initial investment in Augen.

Augen's innovative approach integrates software, hardware, and artificial intelligence to optimize water treatment processes for both human consumption and industrial use. The startup’s co-founders will join Biosolvit’s executive team, bringing valuable expertise in water management and digital solutions. According to Augen’s CEO and co-founder, Fabrício Santana, “We joined Bio to build a benchmark in our segments and create a sustainable giant.”

Biosolvit's Strategic Expansion in Sustainability

The acquisition represents a major step in Biosolvit’s strategy to position itself as a leader in sustainable transformation across Latin America. The company has built a solid reputation for its environmental solutions, particularly in the recycling of plant fibers and oil recovery from industrial accidents. Biosolvit recycles approximately 60 tons of plant fibers monthly and treats nearly 270 million liters of water per month through its filtration systems. Additionally, the company is responsible for recovering more than 160,000 liters of oil each month from small industrial spills.

With the integration of Augen’s technology, Biosolvit is now capable of treating an additional 90 million liters of water for industrial processes each month. The acquisition enhances the company’s capacity to offer cutting-edge digital solutions in water monitoring and quality control, aligning with global sustainability goals.

“We are committed to sustainable growth, and this acquisition reaffirms our mission of uniting science and technology to create solutions that make the world a better place,” stated Guilhermo Queiroz, CEO of Biosolvit.

Synergies and Future Growth

The combination of Biosolvit’s established environmental solutions and Augen’s innovative digital technologies is expected to generate significant synergies. Ângelo Guerra, director of new business at Biosolvit, emphasized the company's impressive growth trajectory, noting that Biosolvit has expanded 40 times over the past four years. “We are just getting started! The synergy created by this acquisition will allow us to become a reference in environmental solutions, combining sustainability and advanced technology to achieve our goals,” Guerra added.

The timing of the acquisition is particularly advantageous, as the new legal framework for sanitation in Brazil is expected to further drive demand for advanced water treatment solutions. Projections for 2025 suggest that the combined revenues of Biosolvit and Augen could double, reaching R$180 million as a result of this increased market demand.

Biosolvit’s acquisition of Augen marks a critical milestone in its journey to become a dominant player in the environmental solutions market. By expanding its portfolio with Augen’s advanced water treatment technologies, Biosolvit is poised to address growing challenges related to water quality and sustainability. This acquisition not only strengthens Biosolvit's market position but also reinforces its commitment to creating lasting socio-environmental impacts, further cementing its role as a leader in the sustainable transformation of industries. As the company continues to grow and evolve, the synergy between its established solutions and Augen's innovative technologies will be key to its future success.
